THE BEAUTIFUL ROADS OF LAGOS.

Hi guyz! This is Ralph the New-Nigerian.

Ok so, being a trained project manager, I usually have my eyes out for situations and details that might cause future inefficiencies and proffer solutions or efforts that may alleviate the issues.
I also think I should share some of them with you on this platform for your comments and contributions..... so let's go!

So this beautiful morning – in the suburbs of Oshodi, I was going to get some grocery for the family and I decide to take a morning stroll. Then I got to the junction of Afari-Ogun road turning off Mafoluku road and I found a major situation brewing….. wait for it!

Now going back memory lane…. About 8 months ago, before the general road reconstruction works got to Oshodi area – as an Oshodi resident – I remember all you had to do was to drive out your compound, use the inner routes within Oshodi “peacefully” and boom! You’re on the major road where of course you might then need to make your entrance into the on-going rumble match.

But as soon as the construction works got to Oshodi and major roads were uprooted and diversions and intersections were established, heavy vehicles started plying routes meant for light vehicles….. and because of the prolonged use of mass transit and heavy vehicles on these inner, fragile routes, the roads have quickly degenerated. So what you now get is traffic in the morning and traffic at night. Commuting has totally become a nightmare in the suburb.

Now to the "koko" of the matter – this Mafoluku/Afari Ogun Junction where most vehicles heading towards the Airport, Ilasa, Mile 2, Orile and Apapa currently use – is also beginning to collapse. The reinforced rings used in constructing the drainage link at the junction has begun to give way and in a matter of days the bottleneck that this situation will create is gonna be horrible - already started though, just see the photos.

So I’m dropping this information out there hoping that someone who cares about Lagos and Lagosians and who knows someone, that knows someone that’s in authority might help pass it on to the appropriate agency to deal with such matters.
I strongly believe that we don’t have to suffer before dealing with issues. Just imagine someone being rushed down to the hospital whose living will depend on every counting minute and then runs into the traffic caused by this avoidable situation?!?!

Anyways, it's now on record.

If you have a similar situation in your area, kindly drop a comment.
Peace!

…..with our small individual efforts, we can create that New-Nigeria.
